ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, recorded his statement before the Faizabad sit-in probe commission on Wednesday. He responded to a four-page questionnaire provided by the three-member inquiry commission.
The federal government had established this inquiry commission, headed by retired Inspector General Akhtar Ali Shah, in response to the Supreme Court’s rejection of the Fact-Finding Committee report.
The Fact-Finding Committee, comprising additional secretaries of the ministries of defence and interior, and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was tasked with submitting a final factfinding report to the Defence Ministry by December 1, 2023. In response to the commission’s summons, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi shared his initial statement regarding the Faizabad sit-in case. The commission provided him with a four-page questionnaire.
