MANSEHRA: Three more arrests were made in Kolai Palas on Tuesday in the murder case of a young girl whose video with a local boy had gone viral on social media earlier this week.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kolai Palas district, Masood Khan confirmed the arrest of the slain girl’s family members who advised her father to kill her after her video with a boy went viral on social media.
Masood Khan said that those arrested included a paternal and two maternal uncles of the slain girl.
The DSP said that a contingent of police was still raiding the possible hideouts of all accused in the mountainous Barsharyal area of Kolai-Palas, which was declared a separate district in Kohistan in the recent past.
Masood said the father of the slain girl, Arsala Mohsin, who was arrested a day earlier, was remanded into police custody by the magistrate for seven days.
The official said that the police also produced Rehmat Shah, who could be seen with the slain girl in the video, recorded his statement under Section 164 of Crpc.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the DIG, Hazara circle office, said that the police were actively pursuing the case and a contingent was still present in the mountainous Sharyal village to ensure more arrests.
The Federal Investigation Agency‘s Cyber Crime Wing has also been actively pursuing the case to ensure the authenticity, origin and owner/operator of the Facebook account on which the video was uploaded.
“We have taken this a challenging task and will ensure who operates this account and why that video was uploaded on it and what motives are behind it,” Mohammad Asif, the deputy director of FIR’s Cyber Crime, said.
He said that the video was made of photos uploaded only on a single account.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Home Department has also started preparing a report to submit to the chief minister.
