Three ordinances to meet IMF terms

Presidential power to promulgate ordinance can also be used if NA is dissolved, where necessary legislation is required

ISLAMABAD: The caretaker government has decided to promulgate three ordinances to meet some conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In this connection, the federal cabinet has approved a summary through circulation to promulgate the ordinances with approval of the president following which the Ministry of Law and Justice would issue gazzete notification.

The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, Pakistan Postal Service Management (Amendment) Ordinance and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance would be promulgated on emergency basis and for that purpose the Senate session which was to continue till December 15, has also been adjourned. As per Constitution, no ordinance can be promulgate when the National Assembly or Senate is in session. The presidential power to promulgate an ordinance can also be used if the National Assembly is dissolved and where necessary legislation is required.
