Govt urged to provide electricity at Rs3.5 per unit

LAHORE:Electricity workers on Tuesday took out a large rally under the aegis of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union and demanded the Prime Minister intervene to get cheaper Wapda hydel electricity and provide to the masses at the rate of Rs3.5 per unit.
The participants of the rally demanded steps to get rid of the high cost of electricity from private thermal powerhouses at the rate of Rs40 to 50 per unit.
They urged for recruitment of workers against 50% vacant posts causing serious shortage of staff. During the weekly holidays, filed staff is doing over work, which is totally unjustified, they said and demanded the management reward the workers who performed excellently in such a challenging situation.
