LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed a petition seeking removal of caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar after declaring it inadmissible.
Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan delivered the reserved verdict on the plea of Advocate Muqasit Saleem.
The petitioner had approached the LHC to remove Kakar, contending that after the expiry of his stipulated term, the caretaker prime minister had become ineffective. The Election Commission of Pakistan, Kakar and others were named respondents in the petition.
The lawyer contended that the legal tenure of the caretaker prime minister expired on November 15 and neither the ECP nor any court granted extension to him.
