Proposed hike in property tax and water charges rejected
Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has categorically rejected the proposed 200 per cent increase in property tax and water charges for residents of the federal capital.
Addressing a press conference here, ex-MNA and JI central ameer Mian Muhammad Aslam warned the Capital Development Authority (CDA) against the increase in property tax and water charges.
He said that JI would strongly resist any rise in property tax and water charges as the masses are already facing high inflation and a hike in the prices of essential commodities.
He also asked the CDA management to cancel to public hearing being held on November 27 and 28 in this connection. Mian Aslam said that there was no justification for the increase in property tax and water charges as the civic body has failed to ensure basic facilities for all the citizens.
He said that bureaucracy sitting in CDA could now enforce increases in property tax and water charges as it was the job of elected representatives. JI Islamabad ameer Nasarullah Randhawa was also present on the occasion.
