ISLAMABAD: In order to broaden of tax base, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) have constituted a task force for integrating the data for identifying potential tax dodgers.
The Nadra chairman will head the task force while two members from each side will be presented in the body for converting plenty of information base into taxability.
The FBR has been facing a challenge that it possessed databank but it became hard to convert this information for the purpose of taxability.
It requires a lot of spadework and conversion of taxability because every case is unique and going into details could result into imposition of tax. There are enabling laws which can be used for the purpose of data integration for expanding the tax base. Under Section 175B of the Income Tax Ordinance, Nadra would share its records and any information available with the FBR for broadening the tax base.
