PPP workers advised to criticise opponents within bounds of ethics

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Digital Media for Islamabad Umar Rehman Malik said that PPP strongly believes in ethics and decency so would like to advise PPP social media activists to always follow the party line while using social media platforms to criticize opponents within the bounds of ethics and morals, unlike other political parties who are targeting each other by using indecent language.

“Under the visionary leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the party workers will work on digital media in a very professional, polite and dignified manner and will counter negative propaganda with decency and logics,” he said while speaking at the organised a meet up for leaders and workers of PPP Digital at Rehman Malik House Islamabad on Saturday.

The event was attended by Syed Hassan Murtaza, General Secretary PPP Punjab, Senator Saher Kamran, Ayesha Nawaz Chaudhary, PPP media coordinator Nazir Dukki, Syed Sibtul Haider Bukhari and a large number of workers and media activists. Highlighting the importance of social media, Umar Rehman Malik said, “We are living in the fast changing globalised world, where people from all over the world are using digital media to connect with each other, plan events, run campaigns, create trends, promote narratives, raise voices and express ideas. Everyone today is on some social media platform.” He said that teenagers on TikTok, influencers and small businesses on Instagram and Facebook, or professionals on LinkedIn - social media is the first option that comes to mind when looking for expanding connections in any field. “So how can digital media be ignored when it comes to a political party that needs to convey its ideology and manifesto and leadership message to each and every corner of the country,” he stressed. Umar Rehman Malik said that in the last few days, Bilawal visited various districts of KP where he was warmly welcomed and the workers› conventions turned into large gatherings with full participation of the people, which shows the confidence of the people in the PPP and its leadership. In his opening speech, Umar Rehman Malik warmly welcome the guests and said, “I am very happy to have you all here at my house and I wish my father was alive to see you all here together”.

He said that his father late Senator A. Rehman Malik had immense love and respect for the workers of the PPP in his heart and this house was more of a party office than our house and will always be a workers› home. “The doors of this house will always be open for the workers of PPP day and night,” he said.

Umar Rehman Malik said that this is the first happy event at his home since the tragic death of his father. He said that he would like to emphasise that united we are strong and divided we are weak, adding we can strengthen our party and our leadership if we are united and work together for the great cause of Bhuttoism, ignoring all petty differences.

Syed Hasan Murtaza, General Secretary of Pakistan People›s Party Central Punjab, while addressing the event urged party workers particularly youth to counter the negative propaganda against PPP and its leadership. He said that social media has become part of mainstream media so party workers should play role of soldiers on it. “We should not play anyone›s role, we have to tell our party›s manifesto as we have many things about serving the nation and country,” he said.

Ex-Senator Sehar Kamran appreciated Umar Rehman Malik for his active role on social media and organising a meet up for party workers and activists. She urged the youth to strengthen the party through social media.

PPP media Coordinator Nazir Dukki, Captain (Retd) Wasif, Arif Hussain Turi, Sabtil Haider Bukhari and others also addressed the event and highlighted the importance of social media.
