Pakistani women & youth are highly talented, resilient
LAHORE:Lynne Hugill, an experienced textile and fashion designer, and senior lecturer in arts and design at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Arts, Teesside University, UK, has said that Pakistani women, particularly the youth, are making significant strides across diverse fields, from science and engineering to arts and design.
Talking to The News, she discussed her visit to Pakistan, where she explored renowned institutions specialising in media, creative arts, and textile designs. Syed Abidi, a renowned educationist & career counsellor, was also present during the meetings with VCs of various institutions, and agreed that it’s a need of developing economies like Pakistan to empower women in all walks of life.
Lynne expressed admiration for the outstanding performance of women in these emerging areas. She was particularly impressed with the collaborative efforts of women alongside their male counterparts, remaining optimistic about their bright prospects on the international stage.
Having visited institutions such as NCA, PIFD, LCWU, UMT, and UOL, Lynne acknowledged the readiness of students to face challenges and appreciated their creative ideas, especially in the field of Media & Arts. As a seasoned senior lecturer in art and design, Ms Lynne Hugill embarked on a transformative journey to Pakistan, recognising the country's rich talent and cultural diversity. Her observations focus on the intelligence, inspiration, and significant contributions of Pakistani women to the nation's development in the field of art and design.
Lynne’s interactions with students and professionals highlighted the pivotal role played by women in shaping the narrative of Pakistan's cultural and creative landscape. Their diverse perspectives contribute significantly to the global discourse on art and design. Engaging with numerous talented women, from groundbreaking artists to visionary designers, Lynne witnessed firsthand the impact of their work on both local and international platforms. The resilience and determination displayed by these women stand as a testament to their commitment to excellence and positive community development.
In conversations with faculty members of various institutions, Lynne highlighted immense opportunities for research exchange between Pakistani and UK institutions in the field of art and design. She expressed her willingness to recommend and support such collaborations.
