SWABI: A leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, was re-arrested from his residence at Marghuz on Thursday after he secured bail from a court in Abbottabad in a corruption case.
“The ex-speaker and PTI leader was handed over to Charsadda police in the Charsadda Toll Plaza attack case,” an official said.
Asad Qaiser was arrested in a joint raid of the police soon after he reached his home after securing bail in Abbottabad.
Earlier, Asad Qaiser, was arrested from his residence at Banigala in Islamabad in a corruption case on November 3. It was alleged that he was involved in purchasing equipment for the Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital, Shahmansoor, inflicting a huge loss on the national exchequer.
Aqibullah Khan, former MNA and brother of Asad Qaiser, told media persons that his brother was released in different cases filed against him in Islamabad, Peshawar and Swabi.
The court in Abbottabad had also accepted his bail, he added. “Is there any Constitution or law in the country?” he asked and vowed not to bow to pressure.
“We will fight a legal and constitutional battle,” he said, adding that they had solid support of workers.
