PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday suspended the first information report (FIR) against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf former lawmakers and district Swat mayor and barred the police from arresting them.
A division bench comprising Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah issued these directives while hearing the case of petitioners PTI ex-Member National Assembly Salimur Rahman, ex-Member Provincial Assembly Fazal Hakim and district Swat Mayor Shahid Ali.
The bench suspended the FIR and ordered the police not to arrest the petitioners. The court also asked the police to present a record of the case at the next hearing to be held on December 7.
Earlier counsels for the petitioners Alam Khan Adezai and Inamullah Yousafzai informed the court that their clients were the former lawmakers and Swat mayor.They pleaded that the petitioners belonged to the PTI and had been implicated in an FIR registered in Waziristan for delivering hate speech against the state.They said that there were also two other FIRs against the petitioners.
