TIMERGARA: Speakers at a seminar stated here on Thursday that antibiotics must be used with great caution; or else bacteria will develop resistance in the next few years to render medicine ineffective, leading to a human tragedy.
The speakers said that the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week is observed to raise awareness regarding Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and to encourage best practices to prevent the further emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance.
The seminar was organised by Al-Farabi Medical Education System, Timergara. Those who spoke on the occasion included orthopaedic surgeon of the District Headquarter Hospital Timergara Dr Waqar Alam, ENT specialist Dr Zafar Ayaz, Dr Ikram, Dr Asad, and Chief Executive Alfarabi Medical Education System Dr Yusuf Khan.
The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Antimicrobial Awareness Week every year from November 18 to 24.
A large number of students and faculty members of Al-Farabi Institute were present on the occasion.One of the speakers said: “It is also our collective responsibility to raise awareness among the people regarding pesticides and their harms and how to avoid them.”
