Cop martyred in Peshawar attack on check-post

PESHAWAR: A policeman was martyred in an attack on a checkpost in Jamrud, Khyber district on Wednesday night.

Reports said unidentified attackers opened fire on a police checkpost in Jamrud sub division of Khyber district. The cops on duty were said to have retaliated.

One policeman Mujibur Rehman was wounded in the attack while the attackers managed their escape. The wounded cop was shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar but he succumbed to injuries.

Police said they have launched a massive search operation in the area.

Attacks on police and other people have recorded an increase in many parts of KP in the last few days.
