ISLAMABAD: The federal government has removed Information and Broadcasting Secretary Zahoor Ahmad from his post.He is grade-21 officer of Secretariat Group, and was working as the additional secretary (in-charge). He has been directed to report to the Establishment Division.
In his place, Ms. Shahera Shahid, a grade-22 officer of Information Group, awaiting appointment in the Establishment Division, has been appointed as the secretary.The Establishment Division had taken formal permission from the Election Commission of Pakistan for the appointment and transfer of information secretary. Shahera Shahid has already worked as the information secretary. On April 16, 2021, she was appointed as the additional secretary (in-charge), Ministry of Information. Later, on March 8, 2023, the federal government appointed her as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information by promoting her from grade-21 to grade-22.
However, on March 31, 2023, she was removed from the post and directed to report to the Establishment Division. In her place, Sohail Ali Khan, a grade-21 officer of the Information Group, was appointed as the additional secretary (in-charge).
But he also could not stay for long as the information secretary and, on August 30, 2023, the caretaker federal government directed him to report to the Establishment Division, and appointed Zahoor Ahmed, a grade-21 officer of the Secretariat Group, as additional secretary (in-charge) of the Ministry of Information.And now, once again, Shahera Shahid was appointed as Information and Broadcasting secretary on Nov 20.
