International day marked: Child rights protection underlined in KP seminar
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission, in collaboration with UNICEF, Islamic Relief and Special Education Complex Hayatabad celebrated World Children’s Day 2023 under the theme “For Every Child, Every Right”.
The event was organized with participation of children from the Special Education Complex, Peshawar.It provided an opportunity to children with special needs to express themselves through various activities during the event.
Minister for Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Department Justice (Retired) Irshad Qaiser was the chief guest. Said Ali Bakhsh, Director Special Education Complex, Peshawar, shared insights during the welcome note, setting the stage for the day’s activities.
The day’s proceedings marked the unwavering commitment to the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child , the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the inclusive vision outlined in the Child Protection and Welfare Act of 2010.
The event showcased performances by children, including those with special needs, underscoring our collective dedication to creating a society where every child’s rights are not only recognized but actively protected and promoted.
The minisiter commended the collaborative spirit that made the event possible.She underscored the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s commitment to the protection, welfare, and overall well-being of children, as outlined in the Child Protection and Welfare Act of 2010.
Programmes were also arranged in other parts of the province to mark the day.The Child Protection Unit in Khyber district and the Social Welfare Department organised an awareness programme in Jamrud. Bags were distributed among schoolchildren during the event at Government Shaheed Abdul Azam Higher Secondary School in Jamrud.
