This letter refers to the editorial ‘Unveiling the unsung’ (November 18, 2023). A certain ‘natural pattern’ is evinced, in my opinion, connecting the public praise of young social activists such as Sister Zeph (with her unique contribution to education) and the aspirations of the younger generation of Pakistanis. Personally speaking, I feel that our generation (the elders) has badly failed our young people, particularly via the shenanigans of the leaders of the last many decades. I agree with younger leaders like Bilawal Bhutto, who has criticized my generation and demanded that the people bring in a completely new generation of young and determined parliamentarians, bestowed with fresh ideas. It is my sincere hope that parties such as the PPP and the PTI will make an effort to give tickets to more young people, including women, and not to the cynical ‘electables’.
