Torture video used for politics
LAHORE:Social media platforms were hit by a video of a former UC Chairman Mehar Afzal Bharwana who was publicly tortured in the Jhang area with the title that he joined PMLN and got public reaction.
However, as per the original news, the former UC Chairman Mehar Afzal Bharwana was taken out of his vehicle by six armed men who came on two motorcycles and subjected him to torture near the Faisalabad railway gate.
In the video, the accused tore the clothes of Mehar Afzal Bharwana and tortured him. Mehar Afzal told the police that the accused had taken one and a half lakh rupees in cash and his cards as well.
Police investigation suggested that Mehar Afzal was tortured by the accused over a land dispute. However, the incident was portrayed as political and was turned into a fake news against PMLN. On social media, it was said that Mehar Afzal was beaten by the general public after he announced joining PMLN. Interestingly, Afzal Bharwana is considered an aide of a former PTI Minister Aslam Bharwana.
