LAHORE : Six robbers were killed by the police in the limits of Iqbal Town police on Saturday.
According to details, six armed robbers dotted into the house of Dr Ibad, a resident of College Block Iqbal Town, and made the inmates hostage at gunpoint. In the meantime, a girl on the roof spotted the intrusion and raised an alarm, prompting the neighbours to contact the police helpline 15. The local police along with CIA rushed to the scene on receiving information about the house being looted by robbers. The robbers opened firing on the policemen who also retaliated in the same fashion and killed all the six robbers.
The house inmates were safely rescued. The dead robbers were identified as Imran and Chand of Vehari, Ali Raza, son of Mansha of Khanewal, Waseem, Mohsin, and Ali Raza, son of Rehmat Ali of Vehari. The bodies were shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
300 cases registered in anti-smog crackdown
The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) said on Saturday that during the past 15 days, more than 300 FIRs have been registered against those involved in burning waste and contributing to smog. LWMC spokesperson Umar Chaudhry said on Saturday that during the past 15 days, more than 300 FIRs had been registered against those involved in burning waste.
Additionally, 630 challans imposing over Rs1.2m fines have been issued for offences related to burning waste.
The LWMC enforcement wing has arrested 21 people for burning of trash and lodged 300 cases while imposing Rs1.2 million fines on violators, he added.
Sources said that the LWMC enforcement wing and law-enforcement agencies jointly raided industrial units and a factory in Misri Shah, which was allegedly involved in waste burning, was sealed.
Golden Butt dies
A notorious figure of Bhatti Gate due to enmities, who was injured due to firing few days back and was undergoing treatment at Lahore Mayo Hospital, has died.
The victim identified as Golden Butt had been shot and injured due to firing by opponents, a constable Kashif Butt and others.
According to registered FIR, the suspects had shot at and injured a citizen. Golden Butt had reconciled the matter. However, they had again tortured and harassed the victim. Golden Butt had expressed anger and hurled abuses at them. The suspects were frustrated over it and shot at them. Butt was undergoing treatment but could not survive. Police said that they were investigating the matter further.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy died after a speeding car hit him in DHA Phase-VII. Reportedly, the victim Zain Wali was trying to cross road when suddenly, a speeding car hit the victim. He received serious injuries and died.
His body was moved to morgue. Police said that they were searching for the suspected driver and investigating the matter further.
