A woman who was discovered murdered in a drum in Defence Housing Authority was identified on Saturday as Haseena, aged between 25 and 30 years, according to South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Asad Raza.
The deceased woman, a resident of Qayyumabad who hailed from Bahawalpur, was reported to have a friendship with Hazratullah, a driver in a Chinese company in DHA Phase VIII. Raza said that Shoaib and Allah were suspects in the case, and efforts were ongoing to apprehend them.
The body of the woman was found in a drum on Friday night, near Fatima Masjid in DHA Phase VII. The victim's body, estimated to be four to five days old according to the initial postmortem report, was subjected to forensic analysis at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed reported a female body in an advanced stage of decomposition. DNA samples were sent to the lab for identification purposes, and the cause of death remained pending until further reports.
The DIG emphasised the preliminary nature of the investigations, stating that the police were unable to determine the exact motive behind the murder. He added that they were awaiting the family to register a case; otherwise, the police would proceed to register the case on behalf of the state.
