ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi Friday appointed Dr Shahzad Ali Khan as the vice chancellor of Health Services Academy (HSA) Islamabad for a term of five years.

The president made the appointment in exercise of powers under section 12 (1) of Health Services Academy Act 2018, the President House hand out said.

Eight distinguished healthcare professionals and academicians had applied for the slot. Of which, three including Prof. Shahzad Ali Khan and Prof. Ramesh Kumar were short-listed, and after interviewing the short-listed candidates, the president appointed Dr Khan as the vice chancellor.

Following his meeting with President Alvi, Prof. Shahzad Ali Khan told that as per the president’s directives, they were going to have public-private partnerships with national and international health institutions to arrange funds for the varsity and offer diversified courses to train youth.

“We told the president HSA is going to offer technical courses to the youth of the country in Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with Allied Health Council so that shortage of trained and qualified staff for healthcare institutions could be met. This trained workforce would also be exported to earn valuable foreign exchange for the country,” he added.
