Law enforcement agencies on Friday detained 50 more undocumented ‘aliens’ as part of an ongoing crackdown against illegally residing immigrants in Karachi.
In a robust operation led by the District East police, areas including Sohrab Goth, Yasrab Goth, and others were targeted. During a thorough door-to-door search, the police scrutinised the documents of over 300 immigrants, resulting in the detention of approximately 50 individuals for their failure to provide proper documentation. Those lacking adequate paperwork were subsequently sent to the holding centre in the Sultanabad area. The crackdown on illegal immigrants in the city began on November 1st, following directives from the federal government. Since the initiation of the crackdown, law enforcement had verified the documents of thousands of immigrants, leading to the detention of hundreds who had been sent to the holding centre.
