The Election Commission of Pakistan’s Sindh chapter has been functioning under the influence of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). If a level playing field is not provided to all parties in the province, it will lead to public rejection of the elections.
Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) Coordinator Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashidi said this while chairing a consultative meeting at his residence on Thursday. Rashidi was of the view that there was no use conduction the elections through government officials affiliated with the PPP.
Talking about the ongoing development of an electoral alliance between the GDA and Pakistan Muslim Nawaz (PML-N), he said the GDA had conveyed its position to the PML-N and hopefully, a positive outcome of the talks between the two parties would emerge.
Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi, Syed Zain Shah, Sardar Abdul Rahim, Irfanullah Marwat, Abdul Razzaq Rahmo, and other leaders were present on the occasion. They also discussed the ongoing consultations between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
Rashidi emphasised the need to work hard and strengthen communication with the public. The meeting was told that the GDA core committee meeting under the leadership of Pir Pagara would be held soon to discuss the future course of action.
