ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) supremo and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will undertake a one-day visit to Sialkot after returning from Quetta.
It will be his first visit outside Lahore in Punjab. He has been invited for the visit by former federal minister and PMLN stalwart Khawaja Muhammad Asif. Sialkot has been a stronghold of the PMLN in recent years. Sources in the PMLN told The News here Tuesday that the top leadership of the party would accompany him in the visit. The PMLN leaders and notables of the area have urged Nawaz Sharif to contest elections for the National Assembly from Sialkot but no decision has been made by him.
Interestingly, he has been receiving such requests from several areas of the country including Quetta where he reached on Tuesday. It is unlikely that Nawaz Sharif will address any public meeting in Sialkot as he has planned meetings with prominent political figures of the area. Some senior and renowned political figures would announce their joining of the PMLN in the presence of Nawaz Sharif. The sources said that he has planned to address public gatherings, once the manifesto of the party for upcoming polls is ready and schedule for the polls is announced.
