LAHORE: The National College of Arts (NCA) organised the opening of a solo exhibition, ‘Silent Horizons: A journey through brush and soul’ by Barkaat at the Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery, NCA, here, Tuesday.
Barkaat's artistic journey, intricately woven with years of resilience and a profound passion for painting, was showcased on this significant occasion. Formerly a chartered accountant, Barkaat faced a life-altering brain injury that redirected the course of his life. Through ‘Silent Horizons,’ his paintings and artworks narrate a compelling story of personal growth and creativity amidst the daily challenges encountered as a person with special needs.
As part of the event, a talk session provided a platform for guests to discuss Barkaat's work. Moderated by Dr Arshia Qasim, Neurologist, Art Therapy, and Narrative Medicine Expert, and Barkaat's sister, the list of distinguished speakers included NCA VC Prof Dr Murtaza Jafri, Prof Dr Ajaz Anwar, Pride of Performance artist and others.
