LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday ordered release Khawar Farid Manika, former husband of Bushra Bibi, on bail in lieu Rs100,000 guarantee.
Justice Ali Baqir Najafi directed the accused to deposit Additional Prosecutor General opposed the accused’s bail plea, stating that he has been found guilty, adding it was responsibility of the Awqaf Department to take the land into custody.
The accused’s lawyer stated that his client is accused of illegal construction on the graveyard land, and requested the court to grant bail. On September 25, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had arrested Maneka, alleging he had illegally constructed a marriage hall on the graveyard land.
