Country’s future lies in promotion of education, says governor

LAHORE: The delegation of Punjab Education Council (PEC) led by PEC President Imran Masood called on Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman here Monday at Governor’s House.

During the meeting, the delegation informed the governor about the problems faced by the private schools. Speaking on this occasion, governor said that the future of the country was related to the promotion of education. He said that the dynamic role and importance of the private sector in the field of education cannot be ignored.

Governor expressed concern that the number of out-of-school children has been continuously increasing since 2018, and said that now this trend has to change. He said that Public-Private Partnership is a successful model, and the success of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) is a proof of this. Punjab Education Council President Imran Masood said that the private sector was working side by side with the government in the field of education. He said that the government’s support would motivate the private sector to perform better, which would bring improvement in the education sector.

80 candidates take MLT entrance test

Entrance test for BSc Medical Lab Technologist first year was conducted in Institute of Public Health in which 80 aspirants participated, result of the test will be announced on November 18 and the list of successful candidates will be displayed on the same date, after which interviews will be held.

Dean IPH Prof Dr Zarfishan Tahir said this at the end of the entrance test. She said that the class of BSc Lab technologists in the institute consists of 20 seats, successful candidates will be interviewed and the top 20 students would be selected. Dr Zarfishan said that during the test and interviews, purely merit is being ensured in all the processes and the admission would be based on merit and marks of the candidates and the merit would be strictly followed, she added.

Painting competition

In connection with the anti-corruption campaign, Punjab University (PU) in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will organise ‘Wall of Culture Painting Competition’ from 9am to 2pm at New Campus, on Tuesday (today). Later, a prize distribution ceremony will be also held at 2pm at Al Raazi Hall in which PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Director NAB and others will participate.
