Six-storey JIC to have 250 beds: minister

LAHORE: Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram reviewed the master plan of Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC) during an important meeting held at Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) on Monday.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Javed Akram said that JIC will consist of a six-storey building with 250 beds and it will be affiliated with Jinnah Hospital Lahore. We are building a state of the art JIC like PIC type for the masses.

He further said that an underground tunnel will also be built between JIC and Jinnah Hospital. Parking plaza and a helipad are also being included in the master plan of JIC. After the construction of this cardiology hospital, there will be a clear reduction in the rush of patients in Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), he added.

Chairman Board of Management PIC Prof Dr Farqad Alamgir, Principal AIMC Prof Dr Ayesha Arif, Dr Zubair Akram, MS Jinnah Hospital Dr Yahya Sultan, Dr Adnan Ali, Prof Arslan Masood, Dr Noor Dastgir, Dr Anam Mubarak and officers of IDAP attended the meeting.
