Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar welcomed a Chinese naval fleet at the Karachi seaport’s east wharf on Sunday. He invited the Chinese navy's personnel to tour Karachi, saying that the city had a beautiful urban and rural blend with old and modern lifestyle.
He spoke at a reception hosted by Chinese Consul General Yan Yundong for the incoming naval fleet. The ceremony was attended by the province’s caretaker home minister Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz, Pakistan Navy Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal, Chinese naval fleet commander Sun Bo among other notables.
The CM said that the people of Pakistan and China were connected to each other with mutual respect, love and fraternity. He said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CEPC) had shortened the distance between the two countries. “Under the CPEC and non-CPEC projects, Sindh has become home to our Chinese brothers,” he remarked.
Sharing experience of his recent visit to China , Baqar said: “During my stay in Beijing, I visited business centres and restaurants, walked on the roads, travelled in subways, buses and cars and went shopping. I observed that China has surpassed all the targets set for human development, besides science and technology."
He commented that the philosophy of Chinese premier Xi Jinping was based on sharing his human development experience with other nations through initiatives like CPEC, One-Belt-One-Road and other mega projects not witnessed in the history before. The CM said that the Chinese naval fleet’s visit to Karachi would enhance maritime collaboration between the two countries.
