NOWSHERA: Unidentified thieves looted the home of a former provincial secretary and decamped with gold ornaments, cash and valuables in the fortified Armour Colony in Nowshera district, police said on Saturday.
Muhammad Khalid Khan, who is former provincial secretary and currently working as project director and resident of Armour Colony in Nowshera, told the police that about seven thieves armed with sophisticated weapons scaled the boundary wall of their home and took driver Akhtar Zeb and guard hostage at gunpoint at night.
He said that the accused also tied the inmates, including his father and him and took the women and children hostage at gunpoint and started looting the house.
The complainant said that the thieves collected 45-tola gold ornaments, Rs0.5 million cash, laptop, TV set, 9MM pistol, cloth and several pairs of clothes and even utensils and decamped.
He said that the thieves, who had worn a special kind of shoes and gloves, conducted their activities for about three hours and they searched every nook and corner of the house to find something. He said that the accused later bundled the looted items in two cars and fled away. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
