One dead, two injured in fire incidents

LAHORE : A man died and two sustained burns in two fire incidents here on Saturday.

In the first incident on Jail Road, a fire broke out in a flat, which burnt a man to death. Nearby people tried to control it. They called rescue teams who reached the spot and evacuated the victims and extinguished the fire. The victim was identified as Gulraiz.

In the second incident in Gujjarpura, two people were burnt after a gas pipeline exploded. A gas pipeline exploded with a huge blast on Imtiaz Road. As a result, two people including a 35-year-old woman was injured. The blast left panic waves across the locality as people thought it to be an explosive blast. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Two kids reunited with parents

Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) immediately responded on emergency 15 call and successfully reunited two young children with their parents from Rahmanpura on Saturday.

According to the details, 5 year old Umar and 7 year old Ayesha had lost their way home. The concerned heirs reported the missing children on the 15 emergency helpline. Simultaneously, emergency helpline 15 received a found call regarding two children from Wahdat Road. The Lost and Found Centre of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority compared the information, and after verification, both children were handed over to their parents by the Wahdat Colony Police Station. The spokesperson of Punjab Safe Cities Authority stated that the Lost and Found Centre has successfully reunited more than 610 missing persons. Citizens are urged to report any missing person on the 15 emergency helpline.

5,755 search operations conducted

Lahore Police has undertaken 5,755 intelligence-based search operations this year, with an ongoing commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens while upholding peace. Lahore Police Chief Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasised this in a statement released on Saturday. Throughout these operations, a thorough examination has been conducted, encompassing 153,607 houses, 77,744 tenants and 601,599 individuals, he added.

CCPO Lahore further reported that 258 hotels, 62 guest houses, 116 hostels, and 8,516 shops were scrutinized during the search operations. Notably, action has been taken against 1,047 individuals under the Tenancy Act; he added and concluded that the protection of the community remains a paramount responsibility for Lahore Police.

Road accidents

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,215 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In these road accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,339 were injured. Out of these, 645 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 694 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams. Motorbikes were involved in majority (76%) of road accidents.

Furthermore, the analysis showed those 637 drivers, 36 underage drivers, 146 pedestrians, and 567 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics showed that 218 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 230 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 100 Faisalabad in with 101 victims and at third Multan with 92 road accidents and 100 victims.

The details further revealed that 1,350 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1056 males & 294 females.
