A sessions court on Friday awarded a collective sentence of 16 years to a man for sexually abusing a minor boy and filming his ordeal at Karachi’s Manora Island.
Ashir alias Waseem was found guilty of the sexual abuse of the boy and criminal intimidation within the jurisdiction of the Mauripur police station in last year.
Additional Sessions Judge-X (West) Irshad Hussain pronounced his order reserved after recording evidence and final arguments from both defence and prosecution sides. He observed that the prosecution successfully proved its case against the accused beyond any shadow of doubt.
The judge awarded 14-year imprisonment to the convict for the offence punishable under Section 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code and two more years for the offence punishable under Section 506 of the PPC.
The convict was told to pay Rs1,050,000 as fine or undergo additional nine-month imprisonment. He was present on bail and was subsequently taken into custody and remanded to the central jail to serve out the sentences that shall run concurrently.
According to the prosecution, the accused along with his accomplices sexually abused a minor boy, resident of Manora Island, and recorded his ordeal. The accused warned the victim to hush up the incident. A case was registered at the Mauripur police station.
