LONDON: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has called for an exemplary punishment for former prime minister Imran Khan for masterminding and perpetrating the May 9 attacks on Pakistan Army across several cities of Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference at the Pakistan High Commission here, the Sindh governor said Imran Khan should have been an exemplary punishment within a week of the May 9 attacks to send a lesson so that nobody ever dare do a similar thing to Pakistan armed forces.
He said that those involved in May 9 terror attacks should have been punished publicly, beyond the court system be it civil or military courts. “I believe that that those involved in May 9 attacks should not have been proceeded through courts, they should have been publicly sentenced. Those put in jail should have been sentenced a long time for their attacks on Pakistan army installations, for attacking the core commander house, for attacking the GHQ, for attacking Pakistan Army physically and for the vandalism. What they did are acts of terrorism.
“Nobody anywhere is allowed to attack even a police station. Protests happen all over the world but terrorism and vandalism is not allowed in the civilised world. It shouldn’t be like this that you get involved in acts of terror and then the cases go on in the courts for years without any punishment for anyone. Our patriotism demands it.”
He said it must not be forgotten that May 9 has brought shame to Pakistan all over the world and May 9 attackers didn’t care for the martyrs of Pakistan and their families and those involved in such acts disrespected the defenders of Pakistan in the worst manner.
The Sindh governor said that General Asim Munir deserves credit for bringing dollar under control by taking action against the smugglers and illegal trade activities. He said that the initiative to send back all illegal Afghans to Afghanistan was required because Pakistan was a victim of terrorism and illegal elements were involved in it.
Tessori welcomed alliance between PMLN and MQM and hoped that this will help stabilise Pakistan. He said Pakistan needs a stable system and all parties must work together for the betterment of Pakistan.
Speaking about Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan, Tessori said that he had a lengthy meeting with Nawaz Sharif before his return to Pakistan and he found Nawaz Sharif worried about Pakistan’s future and the state of affairs. He said he regularly speaks to Shehbaz Sharif.
He said, “Nawaz Sharif talked about when he was ousted in 2017. I publicly praised the good things Nawaz Sharif said and did. Allah has given him another opportunity and he is back in Pakistan and he has every right to do what he wants to do for the betterment of Pakistan.”
Kamran Tessori was in London to launch the Singh Premier League (SPL) to highlight the talent and culture of Sindh by introducing the youth from the regions to the global stage as the premier is aimed at bringing Sindh into focus in a unique style.
