Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Saleem Rajput on Thursday chaired a meeting of all assistant commissioners and other officials regarding measures being taken to control the prices of essential food items fixed by the city administration.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the price control campaign launched by the city administration. The commissioner asked the officers not to show any leniency towards the profiteers and ensure that food items were available to the common people at the prices fixed by the city administration.

The assistant commissioners submitted their reports on efforts they are making to control the prices. The commissioner expressed displeasure at the progress and said there was a great need to make all-out efforts to ensure that consumers had all essential food items at reasonable prices as fixed by the Commissioner's Office with the coordination and cooperation of the representative traders and relevant whole sellers and retailers' associations.

The commissioner told the officers not to leave any stone unturned to make the price control campaign initiated for providing relief to consumers successful. He said all officers concerned would ensure that the prices were checked by them daily in their subdivisions. The officers were also asked to submit their performance reports daily to Additional Commissioner-I Sehar Iftikhar.
