Balochistan Caretaker Information Minister has warned the government of Afghanistan against issuing provocative statements on the issue of repatriation of illegal immigrants of Afghan origin from Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Thursday, he said that Pakistan couldn’t be the host for illegal immigrants for an indefinite time.
Achakzai said that in the next step, the registered refugees would also be repatriated from Pakistan. He said hundreds of thousands of forged computerised national identity cards had been issued to facilitate the stay of the illegal immigrants in the country. He said that over 100,000 fraudulently issued CNICs had been blocked in Balochistan alone.
He told media persons that those who connived in issuing hundreds of thousands of fake CNICs wouldn’t be forgiven. He claimed that Afghan nationals were involved in the recent acts of terrorism in the country.
Achakzai said the Afghan government should also take action against TTP and hand over to Pakistan Pakistani nationals illegally residing in Afghanistan. So far 80,000 illegal immigrants had left the country, and 1,000 illegal immigrants had been detained in Balochistan alone and sent back to their native countries, he noted.
The Balochistan information minister said the government’s latest campaign were only targeting the illegal immigrants and it would continue. He praised the Sindh government for lending support in this regard.
He said the interim prime minister had issued clear-cut directives that Afghans illegally residing in Pakistan should be sent back to their country. He hoped that the incoming elected government in the country would follow this policy as the state of Pakistan had decided to repatriate illegal immigrants. He said the state of Pakistan was not going to withdraw this policy.
Achakzai said that the current campaign would continue till the expulsion of the last illegal immigrant from the country. He said that Pakistan’s security forces were fully prepared to tackle the menace of terrorism in the country. He lamented that up to 200 persons were killed in the country due to the current wave of terrorism.
