SKARDU: Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah has said the political and religious leaders are working for the promotion of peace and brotherhood in the region and the development of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mahdi Shah expressed these views while addressing the dinner given by him in honour of Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan. Provincial ministers, religious scholars, the chief secretary and provincial secretaries also attended the dinner.
Earlier in a meeting Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan said that besides PIA, other airlines will also utilise the Skardu International Airport. He said the government is taking serious steps to improve the health sector.
To overcome the shortage of general nurses, a nursing college will be established soon, while two high schools in Skardu will be given higher secondary status. The chief minister an agreement has been signed with the Norwegian government for the installation of a solar power project in Skardu city. Haji Gulbar Khan said steps will be taken to solve the problem of river embankments on a permanent basis. The tender process Shagarthing Road project will be completed soon.
