BISP's social safety net highlighted
Islamabad: In a recent visit by a delegation from the National Institute of Management (NIM), Peshawar, Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Amer Ali Ahmad, underscored the organization's global recognition as a social safety net.
BISP is actively providing financial support to an impressive 9.3 million households through its Kafaalat initiative. Furthermore, it extends stipends to 8.2 million school-going children and Nashonuma support to 1.22 million beneficiaries, all without discrimination.
During the visit, the Secretary emphasized that BISP follows an inclusive approach to identify beneficiary families and is actively introducing skill development programs for the children of BISP beneficiaries. Addl. Secretary Dr. Muhammad Tahir Noor provided a comprehensive overview of BISP and its core initiatives, including Kafaalat, Taleemi Wazaif, Nashounuma, Undergraduate Scholarship, and the National Socio-Economic Registry.
The delegation was also briefed on the payment mechanism for BISP beneficiaries, and the challenges faced by the organization were discussed. BISP continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring social safety and support for millions of Pakistani households.
