Police arrested on Thursday three suspects allegedly involved in the murders of a Pakistan Navy employee and his minor daughter.
The Korangi Industrial Area police said that the suspects, Farooq, Zubair and Tariq alias Karela, were arrested by the investigation wing and a weapon used in the double murder was recovered from them.
Twenty-seven-year-old Tahir Zaman, who was an employee of the Pakistan Navy, and his two-year-old daughter Anum were shot dead near Chamra Chowrangi in the Korangi area on September 24.
According to police, six suspects on three motorcycles were mugging people. Zaman got hold of one suspect upon which his companions started shooting that killed the Navy employee and his daughter.
Police said that two of the arrested suspects are from Sindh while the third is from Southern Punjab. After committing street crimes in Karachi, they used to return to their hometowns to evade arrest.
Police said that the search for the other three suspects was underway. At the time of the incident, Zaman along with his wife and two children was travelling on a motorcycle. During the firing, his wife and son remained safe. Sindh police chief Riffat Mukhtar Raja had taken notice of the incident, seeking a report from the District Korangi SSP.
