Private schools in Pakistan have become a money-making sector where those running the schools are more concerned about profit than imparting quality education. While some high-tier schools are better, mid- and low-tier private schools need immediate attention. Untrained teachers are hired who are not fit for teaching. This has a negative effect on the overall quality of education.
Many students who are compelled to attend these schools because of financial compulsions lack critical skills required to get ahead in their career. How are they going to compete in the modern world? The state is responsible for ensuring that all children have access to quality education. It is quite unfortunate that we have tied this access to people’s ability to pay the high tuition fees of private schools.
