ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Monday rejected the pre-arrest bail of an accused allegedly involved in concealing 652 gram gold.
A three-member bench of the apex court — headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood — rejected the application of accused Muhammad Jameel seeking pre-arrest bail.
The court observed that evidence was available against the accused for concealing gold. After the court rejected the bail application, the police arrested the accused outside the courtroom.
During the hearing, the counsel for the accused sought an interim bail for his client and submitted that a wrong case was registered against his client.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, however, observed that evidence and statements of witnesses were available against the accused that the gold was given to him but he concealed it.
Opposing the interim bail, the prosecution submitted that a claim had been filed against the accused for concealing 652 gram gold valuing over Rs10 million.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood observed that the accused was a gold craft’s man while the allegation had been made against him by his real brother. This is not at all the case of a pre-arrest bail,” Justice Masood remarked.
Meanwhile, the court after upholding the verdicts of trial court and high court rejected the pre-arrest bail of the accused. It is pertinent to mention that one Muhammad Saleem had registered an FIR against his brother Jameel (accused) for concealing the gold.
