PESHAWAR: A woman living in Yakatoot locality has asked the inspector general of police to direct the cops to stop harassing her family.
Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Iqra Sher said that her father Sher Zamin and brother Jawad were in police custody and that the cops were regularly raiding their home and harassing the family.
She said her father was in the construction businesses and had several employees.The woman said Abdul Khaliq, one of the accused in the murder of the Edwardes College student, was also a worker at her father’s business.
She said her family had nothing to do with the murder of the student but the police were harassing her family instead of doing proper investigation.Iqra alleged that she along with her sister was kept in custody for 19 days illegally.
She alleged that her family was being told that her brother Jawad would be killed extrajudicially.The woman asked the police IGP to look into the matter and protect her family from the alleged excesses of the police as the family had nothing to do with the alleged crime of Abdul Khaliq.
