Rawalpindi : In today's digital age, it is essential to encourage the habit of reading among young children. Reading not only enhances their knowledge but also fosters creativity and critical thinking.
To promote this habit, the concept of a mobile library is introduced by organizations where books are brought directly to the children instead of children going to library, sparking their enthusiasm for reading. In a heart-warming endeavor, the ABP&AW (Association of Business, Professional and Agricultural Women) recently launched the "Bookshaw," a mobile library initiative, as part of the "Kitab Dost Project."
The primary objective of this noble initiative is to instill a love for reading in young children, setting the stage for a brighter future. Senator Fawzia Arshad who was the chief guest on the occasion cut the tape to kick off the launch of 'Bookshaw. 'The scene at Jinnah Park here on Saturday was nothing short of magical, with hordes of enthusiastic children flocking towards a vibrantly decorated rickshaw.
They stood on their tiptoes in anticipation, eager to uncover the literary treasures concealed within. The ABP&AW team meticulously planned and executed a well-structured two-hour activity, marking the inaugural run of the Bookshaw.
While talking to The News President ABP&AW Isl/Rwp Tahmeena Malik said that the mobile library consists of a specially designed Rickshaw equipped with a diverse collection of books for different age groups. Trained volunteers from our staff manage the mobile library, ensuring a friendly and inviting atmosphere for children. The Rickshaw would visit parks regularly, making it convenient for children and parents to access books. The street children can also benefit from it. The team commenced the event by imparting valuable lessons, such as forming orderly queues, using rubbish bins, and maintaining a disciplined approach to listening. The engaging activities included reading a short story with a moral lesson, reciting nursery rhymes, and indulging in creative drawing and painting sessions. The highlight of the event was the repetition of enchanting "magic words." The response from the young audience was nothing short of overwhelming. To encourage the more inquisitive and confident children, small giveaways were distributed.
The event was a delightful and enjoyable experience for all involved, fostering a positive atmosphere of learning and fun.
