LAHORE Inspector General Police Dr Usman Anwar met with DPO Bhakkar M Naveed and his team at the Central Police Office.

DPO Bhakkar M Naveed while giving a briefing about police performance this year under police station diaries said that during this year Bhakkar police recovered stolen goods worth 11 crores 41 lakhs and 23 thousand from dacoits and criminals and handed them over to the citizens.

As many as 451 cases were filed against illegal weapons and 451 suspects were arrested, from their possession 46 Kalashnikovs, 49 guns, 33 rifles, 351 pistols and 2168 cartridges were recovered.

Bhakkar police traced 03 cases of blind murder and arrested culprits in 36 cases of murders and sent them to judicial custody.

Bhakkar police arrested 1,264 proclaimed offenders, arrested 29 accused of 12 criminal gangs and recovered 4.25 million stolen goods. In this year's crackdown against drugs, 152.11 kg of charas, 3779 liters of liquor, 6 units of liquor production and 498 litres of alcohol were recovered this year from the dealers.

In electricity theft crackdown, 670 cases were registered and the accused were arrested. 266 stolen motorcycles, 3 cars, 4 rickshaws, 2 oil tankers and 370 stolen cattle were recovered and handed over to the original owners. More than 140,000 litres of illegal Iranian diesel were recovered from smugglers worth 40 million rupees, Similarly smuggling of wheat 5.68 metric tons, flour 825 metric tons, fertilizer 135.65 metric tons, sugar 1391.25 metric tons was thwarted.

For the force welfare initiative, 69 constables were promoted to the post of head constables on the basis of merit and seniority.

The IG appreciated the Bhakkar police for successfully tracing robbery, murder and other cases and said that the crackdown against criminals and anti-social elements should be continued on a daily basis and the performance reports should be sent to the Central Police Office regularly.
