Girls school student protest against headmistress

JHANG: A large number of students of the Government Girls High School, Ghazi Shah Bagh, Wednesday staged a demonstration against their headmistress Nasim Akhtar.
During the protest, the girl students raised slogans against the headmistress for taking action against a teacher for her alleged misconduct. The students demanded immediate transfer of the headmistress and return of their teacher in the school.
Police and the district education officer secondary education rushed to the school. The DEO asked teachers to cool down the students and told them that it was also a misconduct that teachers engaged students in administrative affairs of the school.
Later, the DEO rescued the headmistress from the school and held an inquiry in his office. In the light of the initial probe, services of two more teachers have been placed at the disposal of the DEO on the charges of instigated the students to protest against the headmistress.
The headmistress stated that a couple of days ago a short event was arranged under co-curriculum activities to educate girls about hygienic conditions at home but some teachers tried to mar the event for some personal motives. She alleged that a local political figure wanted a new headmistress and some teachers misguided the students and arranged the protest.
The accused teachers denied allegations of asking students to protest against the headmistress and claimed that girls and their parents were unhappy with the headmistress over allowing a hygienic activity of a soap company in the school. The matter was brought into the notice of the DCO and the EDO (education). However, EDO (Education) Nasim Ahmed Zahid has suspended the headmistress Nasim Akhtar. The inquiry was in progress in education complex till the filing the story.
