Salt range area

Special steps taken to

decrease road accidents: DIG Motorway

From Our Correspondent

CHAKWAL: Motorway and Highway Deputy Inspector General Zubair Ashraf Sadiqui Wednesday said special steps have been adopted in the salt range area at Lahore-Islamabad motorway and Taraki Mor near Sohawa at Peshwar-Lahore GT road.

Talking to reporters after participating in the certificates distribution ceremony for 31 LTV drivers at district council hall, Chakwal, the DIG said fatal accidents in these areas were declining.

DPO Munir Masood Marth and District Bar president Khawaja Asghar Farooq were also present.

Sadiqui was of the view that the heavy cement trailers were playing havoc with highways and motorways, but now over weight trailers were off loaded and strict measures were taken. He urged cement factories to ensure specific load on vehicles.

Earlier, addressing the function the DIG said TEVTA organisation of the Punjab government and Motorways police have signed an agreement and 2,000 drivers have been trained.

The certificates were distributing among 31 drivers who had successfully completed the training.
