MINGORA: Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarian Mahmood Khan on Thursday said that significant strides were made in Swat’s development during his tenure as chief minister.
“A total of 59 kilometres of roads at a cost of Rs 907 million were not only approved but practical work was initiated on the projects. However, certain political parties are currently in a point-scoring attempt to mislead the masses by declaring these projects as their own,” he told reporters here.
The former chief minister said that some of the projects included Rs 425 million Kabul - Kalakley Road, Rs490 million Beish Banaras-Belagat Road, Rs769 million Mangalurse - Kis Road, Rs 293 million Shangrai road, as well as several flood-affected roads.
Additionally, he mentioned that the construction of vital link bridges, like the Darulai Link Bridge, Badai Seri Link Bridge, Shenku, Bishigram, Lykot, Badai Kamar link bridge, and Tanazgara link bridge, worth Rs1300 million as significant projects for the development of Swat district.
Khan emphasised that substantial progress had been made on these projects, with 40 to 50 percent completion in some cases. However, he said that certain political circles were attempting to unjustly claim credit for these achievements, which contradicted the reality.
Mahmood Khan claimed that Swat held a special place in his heart, and the work he initiated as chief minister was rightfully his legacy. He vowed not to allow anyone to wrongfully take credit for these accomplishments. He reaffirmed his commitment to continue the journey of development in the future if given the opportunity.
