ABBOTTABAD: Commissioner Hazara Division, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam, emphasised on the role of traffic police in ensuring smooth traffic flow and called for traffic engineering in the region.

He highlighted the importance of traffic engineering, road infrastructure, and law enforcement during a meeting that discussed addressing traffic issues and encroachments in the city.

The meeting, held at his office, was attended by Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Khalid Iqbal, DPO Umer Tufail, SSP Traffic Arif Javed, GM NHA, TMO, and president of the Citizen Traffic Committee (CTC), Nazeer Ahmed, along with Secretary Ayaz Khan.

The commissioner stated that the enforcement of traffic laws was essential for road safety, and the primary goal of traffic policing is to ensure a safe and efficient traffic flow through persuasion, prevention, and appropriate penalties. He directed the SSP traffic to promptly remove obstacles hindering traffic flow, such as illegal carts and cabins, and take strict action against professional beggars.

The officer urged the assistant commissioner and TMO Abbottabad to support the traffic police in these efforts and instructed NHA officials to expedite the completion of U-turns on Mansehra Road.
