LAHORE: The caretaker provincial health minister Prof Dr Javed Akram reviewed the concept paper of the first cancer hospital for the people of Punjab.
The minister chaired a meeting held at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute. Special Secretary Operations Raja Mansoor Ahmed and Additional Technical Secretary Dr Hafiz Shahid Latif from the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education attended the meeting.
Secretary Finance Mujahid Sher Dil and Chairman PKLI Board of Management Prof Dr Saeed Akhtar participated in the meeting through a video link conference. The Dean of PKLI Prof Dr Faisal Saud Dar gave a briefing to the minister. Prof Dr Javed Akram said that the caretaker CM wanted to give state-of-the-art cancer hospital to the people.
In the past, no government even thought of a cancer hospital. Cancer treatment and medicines are very expensive all over world, including Pakistan.
We want to provide all medical facilities under one roof. In Punjab alone, free medicines worth billions of rupees are provided to cancer patients. The hospital affiliated to PKLI will be state-of-the-art. All resources, including HR will be provided to PKLI for cancer hospital.
