Ex-DIG booked for threatening DPO Office operator

OKARA: Sadr police have registered a case against a former DIG on a charge of threatening a telephone operator of the DPO Office for not connecting him to the DPO’s phone.
Telephone operator Ghulam Gilani reported to police that the District Police Office received a phone call and the caller introduced himself as retired DIG Irfan Mehmood. He said that the retired DIG asked him to connect him to DPO Muhammad Faisal Rana but he told him that the DPO was not in his office. The operator said that he asked the caller to leave his phone number, telling him that he would call him back on the arrival of the DPO. A bit later the caller again phoned and the operator told him that the DPO had still not returned. To it, the caller allegedly threatened him of dire consequences. A case has been registered under Section 25 of the Telegraph Act.
