Jirga rejects NCP vehicles’ registration

KHAR: The jirga of local political leaders and elders on Wednesday rejected the district administration’s decision to register the non-custom-paid (NCP) vehicles.

The jirga held under the auspices of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bajaur chapter, was attended by JI district chief and former lawmaker Sahibzada Harronur Rashid and Sadar Khan, Aurangzeb Inqilabi, Sher Bahadur of Pakistan People’s Party, Gul Afzal and Maulana Khanzeb of Awami National Party, tribal elders Malik Ayaz, Malik Sultan Zeb, Malik Hifzur Rahman and others.

The participants rejected the crackdown against the NCP vehicles in Malakand Division and merged districts and urged the people not to register their vehicles with the district administration.

They said that the government decision had disappointed the people of Malakand Division and erstwhile tribal areas to register their NCP vehicles.The speakers said that people of merged districts were already facing a host of problems, including militancy and unemployment and lack of facilities of education and health and levying taxes would further multiply their difficulties.

They vowed to resist any decision to impose taxes in Malakand Division and merged districts.The speakers added that they would never allow anyone to render the people of calamities-hit areas unemployed.e of calamities-hit areas unemployed.
