ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reiterated the demand for general elections’ date, saying PPP is ready for elections.
Bilawal held a meeting with the top PPP leadership on Tuesday at the Zardari House here to discuss the political strategy for the upcoming elections and review party preparations in all the four provinces.
The meeting was attended by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nadeem Afzal Chan, President PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, Shazi Khan and Sardar Umar Gorej.
The overall political situation of the country was discussed in the meeting in which leaders from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan gave briefings to Bilawal. The meeting decided to start holding public rallies in the country from the first week of November. Bilawal said the Election Commission of Pakistan should now announce the date and schedule for the general elections.
Later, the daughter of former Punjab chief minister Manzoor Wattoo, former MNA Rubina Shaheen Wattoo, met Bilawal after joining the PPP. Bilawal welcomed her into the party’s fold.
